UPGRADE ERROR REPORTING
Posted December 30, 2013
Now that the grid maintenance has been completed and residents have had the opportunity to experience some of the differences, Island Oasis would like to extend an invitation to residents to offer their feedback and report on any error they may have experienced. Some of the known issues are:
Phoenix Viewer- and using search in the viewer, results are showing twice. Although the search results are accurate, they should only show each search result one time.
Phoenix Viewer-While in private IM with someone and connected to voice in local, the IM box does not show the 'Call" button as highlighted allowing you to call another resident. However, although you can not initiate the call, someone can call you and you can still engage in a voice call.
Firestorm OS Viewer - If currently on voice and teleporting to a new region your voice is still engaged in the previous region.
Firestorm SO Viewer-If you turn an in-world prim phantom it works, but when you then remove phantom the object still remains phantom
If you have experienced any errors in-world since the our recent upgrade (since December 27) please submit your errors using our UPGRADE ERROR REPORTING FORM.

A new feature we are adding is the groups module. A groups service was added directly to the OpenSimulator core distribution package but is not yet enabled by default. We will be enabling are the groups module. Extensive testing was done on the beta grid with success for this module and Island Oasis is pleased to announce that group attachments are functioning without error as well as the majority of abilities that can be assigned to roles.
BulletSim physics was also available, but also not enabled. ODE is the default physics engine. Island Oasis has also completed extensive testing on the beta grid using the BulletSim Physics which also proved to be a success. Island oasis will be changing from the ODE to the new BulletSim Physics.
Please visit opensimulator.org for more information and to read the release notes.

Beta Grid Testing
Updated December 15, 2013
Testing has concluded on the beta grid. We are looking forward to the release of 0.7.6 to the production grid over this month. Thank you to all who participated as resident beta testers. You feedback is very much appreciated!
Posted December 12, 2013
The beta grid will be open for testing beginning Friday evening, December 13 through Sunday evening. The beta grid will close for testing as of 9pm (PST). If you are a resident of Island Oasis and would like to be a beta tester please put a notecard in Sugar or Damean's mailbox at the welcome zone with your name on it. After your information is received you will be sent the information you need to access the beta grid and your log in level for you to access it will be set to allow you to connect.
The beta grid has an entirely new physics engine and is running on version 0.7.6. opensimulator. The default physics engine of opensimulator source code is ODE. Island Oasis will not be using the ODE physics engine, instead we have implemented the Bullet Physics engine. Currently on the grid we are using our own modified version of ODE. We are looking forward to your feedback regarding the new physics engine.
We hope you will enjoy your experience as a beta tester. After you have had the opportunity to be on the beta grid please put any feedback you have on a notecard and return it to either Sugar or Damean's mailbox at the welcome zone.

Land Store Restructured for 2014
Updated November 23, 2013
Please attend the public Town Hall Meeting December 1, 2013 at 1pm PST in Region IO HQ where Island Oasis Staff will be discussing the changes and fielding questions.
Posted November 23, 2013
Island Oasis will be rolling out a new region sales structure to better meet the needs of both the resident land owner and the grid alike as of January 1, 2014. One benefit to having passed our second year in business is that time has afforded us the means to look back on our region sales structure and look for ways to improve it. One improvement seen in 2013 was the addition of the landscape sim which are available both for purchase, as well as a loyalty gift option granted after 6 months of land ownership to qualified landowners.
Island Oasis' new Region Sales structure is aimed at enhancing sim performance and includes new region types, new Region Owner Appreciation Gifts (ROAG) options. The simplification of the new region usage guidelines will greatly minimize any confusion land owners may have experienced in the past. The current regions offered for sale are Premium, Homestead, Full Prim and Landscape regions (Landscapes sold only as an add-on region for existing land owners). The current regions types for sale (excluding landscapes) will be retired at the end of 2013.
Beginning January 1, 2014 the following region types will be available for purchase:
ELITE REGION 40,000 Prims $65 USD/mo
-residential, full commercial (mall, clubs, combat, racing, heavy scripts etc.)
ECONOMY REGION 15,000 Prims $35 USD/mo
Usage Guideline: residential, very light commercial (one big store, 5 or less smaller stores)
EDUCATIONAL REGION* 15,000 Prims $30 USD/mo (14% savings)
-educational use only (for accredited learning institutions, subject to verification)
LANDSCAPE REGION 2000 prim $10/USD/mo (available only as an Add On Region) - Must own an Elite, Economy, or and Educational region to own a Landscape region. For scenic use only (no commercial use, no residential). Add-on a region with a forest, ocean, park or other natural space.
Region Set Up fee for each is a one time fee of $25 USD
For the last year and half we have been waiving the region set up fee of $60. As of January we will no longer be waiving the fee, although in keeping with our new region sales structure we are lowering the set up fee to an affordable one time $25 set up fee.
Region Owner Appreciation Gift (ROAG)
After owning an Economy or an Elite region for 6 months the land owner become eligible to claim a region owner appreciation gift based on their type of region.
ECONOMY ROAG options A-1000 more prim to existing qualifying region
B-1000 prim landscape existing qualifying region
ELITE ROAG options A-2000 more prim to existing qualifying region
B-2000 prim landscape existing qualifying region
Current land owners will not be affected by our new region sales structure, the price, prims and region usage assigned to their particular region(s) will remain the same for the land owner as long as they own their current sim. Island Oasis had always maintained grandfathered in pricing of their regions sold, meaning when you purchase a region the recurring tier price will always remain the same as long as you own that region. This is still true to this day and moving forward. The usage guidelines will also be grandfathered in for all existing regions. Island Oasis wants to reassure the residents that no current regions will be affected in any way by the Updated Region Sales Structure that will be in place as of January 1, 2014.
Stipends are also grandfathered in for the existing regions and their land owners. Stipends for the new 2014 regions are as follows:
ECONOMY =$400P/mo Stipend
ELIT E=$600P/mo Stipend
*Education Region has option when ordering to come blank for the purchaser to develop or as a "ready to use" fully developed sim with media on a prim enabled educational building with additional functional ready to use features..

beta Grid testing
Updated November 23, 2013
Testing on the Beta grid is going well. Completion of initial phase of testing is expected in the next few days. Island Oasis will be completing a phase of secondary testing which will include resident beta testers. Once testing is final the new release of opensimulator 0.7.6 will be rolled out to the production grid.
Posted November 16, 2013
Beta Grid Update.... IO Founders Sugar and Damean Paolino have been working hard and testing on the beta grid. Things are looking GREAT. Groups are sending and receiving attachments. So far no major snags. Once the Paolino's are done with testing we will start letting members in to test.
We are looking forward to the outcome of testing and feedback from those residents who will also be testing on the beta grid. We will keep you informed as we move closer to opening the Beta grid for testing and let you know when log ins are enabled on the Beta grid. Once all testing is complete the new version will be rolled out on the active grid.

Tier Free Shops-New Rental arrangements
Posted November 14, 2013
In order to accommodate the merchant owners that have claimed one of our tier free shops in the regions of Oasis Village and Oasis Shopping Center new rental boxes have set out to extend the rental periods. The previous rental period was set for 7 days. The new extended rental periods will be for 30 days. The boxes will function the same and send the tenant a notice 24 hours before the box is to expire to remind the tenant to click the box to renew their rental period.
You may click your rental box at your convenience any time during your 30 day rental period to reset it and we encourage you to do so. If you haven't clicked to renew your rental box before the 29th, then you will receive the reminder message.
Do to this new extended rental period there will no longer be vacations box covers to save a store for an addition 1-2 weeks should someone be on vacation.
The new boxes will also send you a group invitation upon renting the box, and will auto remove you from the group when you are no longer a tenant. This will make it much easier since tenants will now be auto invited to the group and will be able to be begin immediately setting up your shop and keep it so only group members can rezz.
If your rental box expires it will turn black and cannot be re-rented until staff resets the box. Do not call staff to reset your box, simply rent another shop if one is open. Prim count allowance will remain at 150 and will be enforced.
All existing tenants have 7 days to click the new rental box so that we can pick up your old one.

Grid Status
Updated November 7, 2013 5:10PM (PST)
Island Oasis is currently experiencing intermittent connectivity issues. The problem, is both Time Warner Cable company service and the modem supplied by Time Warner Cable. Due to a bad node in the modem as well as problems in the lines that come directly into the building where the servers are currently housed, there have been connectivity issues. IO has had technicians from time Warner working on the issue which earlier in the day Time Warner Cable had stated that the issue had been resolved. We now know that is not the case. Those residents who have chosen to log in today and at present will be subject to intermittent connectivity issues which at this point is beyond IO's control.
Plans to move the servers to a new Data Center are still underway and the next meeting for that is scheduled for tomorrow, November 8, 2013. This does not mean the issues will be solved as of tomorrow. The current connectivity issues still lay with Time Warner. It does mean, however, that the founders of IO are doing all they can to expedite the move to a new Data Center as well as secure the stability of connectivity.
The Staff of Island Oasis offers it condolences and understands the frustration many of its residents may be having. IO Staff wishes to thank every one of its residents for their understanding and patience as well as their many kind words and messages in support of the grid. This is a testament to the strength and unity of the community we have created here in Island Oasis.
Further updates will continue to be posted here as well as on our facebook group page.

A message from the Founders of IO
Hello everyone,
We replaced the cable as we said we would and recycled the modem and router.. Unfortunately the modem provided to us by our ISP is not establishing a solid connection. Sugar has been in contact with the CEO of Time Warner Cable and was assured that this will be resolved and they have a manager engineer coming tomorrow AM to fix. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Regards,
Damean

Sugar has been in contact with the CEO of Time Warner Cable and was assured that this will be resolved and they have a manager engineer coming tomorrow AM to fix. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Regards,
Damean

Updated October 31, 2013 6:39pm (PST)
Logins are being disabled temporarily while Staff continues finalizing maintenance. Later, when logins have been enabled, The Welcome Zone will be open. Other regions will be being brought back online one at a time, server by server with no hierarchy other than that. When we announce that logins have been enabled, please know that you will need to look at the in-world map to see if your region of destination is up. If you can see it on the map, then the region is up and teleports to that region are enabled. We appreciate your patience as we are bringing all the regions back online.

Maintenance is progressing as planned and we hope to have logins enabled this evening.

A Word from The FOunders of Island oasis
POSTED October 12, 2013
I just wanted to take a moment to let you all know that, as some of you may already know, the long awaited OpenSim v0.7.6 has been officially released. Island Oasis is setting the stage for beta grid tests and preparing migration scripts etc..
Once completed, we will release an official implementation schedule for roll out of this new version. Among many requested features, probably the most requested feature, Group notice attachments, WILL work with this version! Also, this version includes marked improvements to mesh importing etc.. Lots of good stuff.
We are very excited about this version and will keep you all informed of our progress and plans for rolling this new version across Island Oasis.
Kind Regards,
Damean Paolino (& Sugar Paolino)
