NEW RENTAL BOXES FOR THE RESIDENTIAL FREE PARCELS

The group IO Community Island has new rental boxes that will now invite you to the land group upon rental (to rezz your items on the free RESIDENTIAL parcels). No one's items will be returned until after June 17 to allow every tenant the opportunity to renew their rental box & rejoin the group. TELEPORT TO THE FREE RESIDENTIAL PARCELS

June Town Hall Meeting HIghlights

Island Oasis would like to thank the residents who took the time to attend and participate in the meeting. If you happened to have missed the Town Hall Meeting please watch for the announcement of when the video of the meeting is available for viewing. The following are some of the major highlights of the grid announcements and news.
* "email to prim" is being rolled out this weekend across the grid. This does not come standard with the OpenSimulator core programming. It enables and in-world object to communicate to another in-world object either on the same sim or a different sim. This is different from the listen command, which only works when both in-world prims are within the same region. Another way this function works and differs from the listen command is its used to communicate from an in-world prim to a webserver. For example systems like vendor or rental systems which are connected to a website.
* Group notice attachments are being enabled and will be rolled out in the next few days. This may require grid maintenance to enable this function, but we will announce any grid maintenance continuing to roll out new servers as well as staying on top of upgrading servers.
* Island Oasis is moving their data center. We are in talks with the implementation specialist and will be doing a tour of the data center that is being considered. Once the servers are moved to the new facility, we will see grid improvements due to increased bandwidth. IO staff will have key card 24 hour access directly to the facility. There could be a potential down time of 4-5 hours while the servers are being moved to the new data center. Announcements of any associated downtime will be made prior to the move.
* Island Oasis has addressed the topic of physics engines over the course of the last few Town Hall Meetings. When looking, testing and considering which physics engine we are looking at options and to taking into consideration the best fit for our platform. We have been and are in testing of several possibilities. One major announcement is that most likely Havok will not be chosen at this time. But PhysX, BulletSim, XNA are currently being looked at and considered.

The Town Hall Meetings are conducted in voice. We ask you to turn your mic off during the meeting and limit typing in local chat to ONLY things relevant to topics we are covering. After news and announcements the floor is opened to the public, feel free to turn your mic on to speak.

Island Oasis Rolls out MOnthly Stipend System

Beginning June 1, 2013 Island Oasis is rolling out a monthly stipend system for land owners as an additional perk. The grid has decided to again reward its land owners, as well as, further stimulate the in-world economy by giving a monthly stipend to each land owning avatar. This year the grid rolled out it's Land Owner Appreciation Gifts which grants the land owner a free gift of either an additional 500 Prim (for Premium region) or an additional Landscape sim (Homestead and Full prim regions) as a perk for land owners after paying for their region for 6 months. The stipend is just one more perk for those loyal land owners, who collectively are growing this virtual world.
The stipend system will pay out monthly for the following types of regions:
Premium Region: $200P per month per region of this type
Homestead Region : $400P per month per region of this type
Full Prim Region: $600P per month per region of this type
The stipend an individual will receive is dependent on first what type of region they own and secondly how many regions they own. The monthly stipend is paid per region. The stipend does not apply to those renting land, but instead to the actual owner of the region.

NEW TOWN HALL MEETing Schedule

As of June 2013, Island Oasis will be hosting their Town Hall Meeting on the 1st Sunday of every month at 1pm IO time (PST). The Meeting will be recorded and the video made available to view shortly thereafter. The video is to allow everyone from different schedules and time zones to have access to the News and Announcements as presented by the Island Oasis Staff.
The 2nd Sunday of each month at 1pm IO time (PST) the Staff will be hosting a live Q & A chat for anyone who have comments questions or concerns regarding the topics that were covered in the Town Hall Meeting.
In June the dates will be June 2, 2013 for the Town Hall Meeting and Sunday June 9, 2013 for the Live Q & A chat. There will be reminders for both the Town Hall Meeting and the Q & A each month through our social media platforms, here on the Grid News page as well as in-world.

Island Oasis has a limited number of sims to offer for a special reduced sale price. There will be 10 Full prim regions and 10 Homestead regions up for sale This is for new sales not upgrades of current sims. There is no run time listed for this sale since they sims are first come first serve and when they are gone the sale will conclude. The special sale sims can only be ordered here on the Information Portal. Land offered elsewhere is regular pricing.
